What the answerer before me said is true. The Celtics were underestimated, because they had to go to seven games against the Hawks and Cavs. Those are Eastern teams, and Eastern teams are known for their defense. The Lakers have no where near defense like that, they are all about run and gun offense. The Celtics force the Lakers to play a physical game. Kobe doesn't get the open shots the Western teams let him get. The Celtics also force turnovers and force the opponent to foul. That what great defense does. It forces the other team to make mistakes. Also, the Celtics were underestimated because the Lakers have always been overrated, since they have the media darling Kobe on their team. But this underestimation has made them all pay the price. The Celtics play a different type of basketball than the Lakers. They had a tough time scoring against the Pistons because the Pistons have a very strong physical and trapping defense, now that that is completely gone in this series, they are free to pretty much do whatever they want. That's why you see plays like Powe's coast to coast. The media needs to quit spreading meaningless hype and recognize the Celtics for the great team they are.

because they think kobe is actually that great aka mj, when hes really not.
They thought Boston played poorly the first two rounds and would not be able to stop Kobe. They didn't realize that the match ups were the key. Atlanta and Cleveland are physical and match well with the Celtics, the Lakers are all flash and show and can't handle them in the Paint.
Because most of the talking heads don't know spit. By the way, Bill Walton said the C's would win and he said it even though his son plays for the Lakers.
Because hyping up Kobe as the next MJ gets them ratings.

Kobe is overrated, his defense is especially overrated.

It's nice that he's finally proved that his All-Defense honors are a shame, all the more reason why his MVP honors may also be a shame.

I hope people would stop voting Kobe in for all-defense now! I'm glad Jeff Van Gundy tells it like it is and call Kobe's defense overrated every 20 minutes.

It's simple, if the NBA would give us the same kind of respect they're giving the celtics, hell if they decided not to make any calls during the game at all for either team, we'd be up 2-0. And for anyone to think that the officiating so far in this series isn't having an effect on the games, are truly fooling themselves. It's ok for us to call it like we see it, but it's not ok to pretend it's not happening. I've never heard of an aggresive team that commits less than 15 or so fouls, that's not possible, the celts are in the top 3 in the league when it comes to commiting fouls. Last I checked, they claim we are soft, i've never heard of a soft team commiting almost 50 fouls and giving a team 38 foul shots. Furthermore I've never seen an MVP best player in the league get disrespected and not get at least the fouls that are obvious. Kobe constantly got hit on the arm or wrist on 75% of his shots. I could keep going on and on, but all I want is the league to at least give us a chance. The Celtics are supposed to be good enough with out all of the favorable whistles and non whistles.
